What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness in which the deeper or subconscious parts of the mind can be accessed. The deeper or subconscious parts of the mind contain the memories, thoughts, and feelings - everything that the person has ever experienced. In this state of mind the person is receptive to taking on board new ideas.
It is a natural state
Hypnosis, meditation and trance is when the brainwaves slow down and change from a fast beta pace to a slower alpha state. There are many natural states of trance, daydreaming is a light trance state, and is in fact part of the natural body cycles. Watching a great movie, and listening to a piece of your favourite music are other naturally occurring times when we can commonly go into trance. Time can go by so fast, when you are in this state of mind, this is because our perception of time can distort in trance.

How does hypnotherapy work?
The deeper or subconscious part of our mind contains all our thoughts, feelings, memories, and belief patterns. Our past traumas, and experiences in life can enable us to hold on to negative, limited and stuck thought patterns. This can cause stress and anxiety. These beliefs are held in the subconscious mind, and we act on these beliefs as though they are real and part of us; when really they are only from past behaviour, and also possibly from childhood conditioning. When we are locked into a cycle of negative thinking and self - defeating patterns, it is hard to change our thoughts and behaviour consciously.
The role of the hypnotherapist is two fold: firstly to guide you into a deep state of relaxation; and secondly by accessing the subconscious mind in this relaxed state. You are then assisted by suggestion to the introduction of more positive beliefs, and ideas, therefore developing change in habitual thinking and habits.
How does it feel?
The hypnotic state is deeply relaxing, and perfectly safe. We use up to date technical psychometric and communication equipment. You will sit or lie in a comfortable chair listening to the hypnotherapist with stereo earphones, which are connected to a sound desk. This enables the therapist to achieve the right pitch and effectiveness of the voice. We also use a psychometric research meter that enables us to know how the hypnosis is progressing.
After hypnosis, clients generally feel as if something positive has occurred -feeling optimistic and energised. Sometimes the effect of hypnotherapy is immediate, and other times, which is more usual, seeds of change are planted which take effect over the coming days, weeks and months. As time passes, these positive changes will compound until one day you will realise that you no longer have those negative or limiting influences.
There has been a lot of scientific research proving that hypnotherapy does work and lasts, and changes are long term.
